What fun! This morning I was thinking of all the intentions I have. From what I’m going to do today to what I want to do tomorrow and in the near future. These are intentions. However, there is a difference between intention and expectation.
The definition of expectation is: a strong belief that something will happen or be the case in the future and/or a belief that someone will or should achieve something.
And that is where the challenge starts. If you have just one or many intentions and add the level of expectation to them, you’ve now set yourself up for failure, guilt, denial, disappointment and a host of other judgmental thoughts of yourself and others.
So let’s go back to intentions. They’re FUN! They can lead you to people, places and events that you may have never thought to go. Your stopping point could be anywhere along that path. You may never get to the exact result of your intention (and that’s perfectly FINE), but “oh the places you will go” in the meantime.
What if one of your intentions is just to “be” who you are in this moment? Now that’s an intention. Be happy. Be where you are without the expectation of where you are going. That’s where all the good stuff is anyway.
