This morning I found myself singing the song from Annie. ‘The sun’ll come out tomorrow. Bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow, there’ll be sun. Just thinking about tomorrow…’ You know the rest.
As soon as I started the second line, I said to myself, WHAT KIND OF SONG IS THAT? Tomorrow? What about today? This song wasn’t setting me up for any sort of happiness today. In fact, it was telling me that I wasn’t happy today. I was telling myself, Don’t worry. Tomorrow will be better. I just got up! I hadn’t even had a chance to feel anything!
Was this song setting an intention for my day? I didn’t even realize the effects of this song until I started thinking about it. Everything I teach is about accepting every moment for what it is—learning from these moments. Here I was, setting myself up today for…what?
Be happy with this moment. Tomorrow is a FULL day away! So much to do and think and feel and be happy about today!
It is so important to start your day in the present moment. This song certainly was not a present moment thought for me. Listen to your thoughts…your inner voice…and apparently the songs you sing to yourself! They are setting the tone for the day.
If you haven’t seen my video on patience, check it out here. This is where NOT being patient fits. You shouldn’t have to wait for happiness. Happiness is right here…in the NOW. Say Hello to your day today, and thank it for all it is about to give you!
Love from me to you!
